Edward E. "Ned" Dolejsi

Ned DolejsiNed is the first lay director of the California Catholic Conference, the public policy arm of the Catholic Bishops of California. He has a wide range of experience in Catholic health care, education and youth ministry in the archdiocese of Seattle, Washington.

A former agricultural Peace Corps volunteer in Iran, Ned continues to be interested in international issues, travel, different cultures, languages and experiences. Tom Duckett, M.D.

Dr. Thomas DuckettDr. Duckett is a Urologist with Sutter Medical and a graduate of Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine 1985 and UCLA School of Medicine.

 Faith, Miracles and Lourdes

Tom Duckett, M.D. is a physician practicing urology in Santa Rosa since 1993.  Born in Scotland, he grew up in the Bay Area, attended Santa Clara University, Loyola University/Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, and post-graduate residency in surgery/urology at UCLA.  Baptized in Scotland, he was raised in the Presbyterian faith before converting to Catholicism at St. Eugene's Cathedral in 2006.  Dr. Duckett's spiritual journey took him to Lourdes, France with Fr. Alvin Villareal as part of the Lourdes Volunteers of North America 2009 Special Needs pilgrimage.  Tom will share his reflections on Lourdes and thoughts on the intersection of faith and medicine in the 21st century.

Chris has been a full time Lay minister in the Catholic Church for 26 + years. His strength has always been within the areas of Evangelization, Catechesis and Music Ministry, all with an emphasis on fostering collaboration. His work in Youth and Young Adult Ministry, Catholic High School Education, and Parish Religious Education, as well as the media work he has done, all have a distinct charism toward the prophetic re-echoing of the timeless truths of the Catholic Church in a contemporary style.

Judy has been honored as the 2009 Business Woman of the Year by the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce. Along with 20-plus years in managerial positions with Kaiser Permanente, Judy is an active community member. She serves as board president of the American Heart Association's North Bay Chapter, where she chairs the START program, and she is a member of the North Bay Hospital Council and Sonoma County Health Action Council. In addition, Judy is an Empire College board member and is past chair of the Workforce Investment Board.

Allen MacKenzie

Allen Mac Kenzie was an executive vice-president and member of the Board of Directors of Champion International Corporation. He served as chief executive of the Home Furnishings group which included Drexel Heritage Furniture, Trend Carpeting and Meadowcraft Outdoor
Furniture.

He was earlier associated with Owens-Corning Fiberglas and U.S. Plywood Corporation with executive marketing responsibilities.

Currently Allen is a volunteer chaplain with Restorative Justice/Detention Ministries of the Santa Rosa Diocese. He visits inmates in the Sonoma County jails several times a week. He also volunteers at the Catholic Worker helping provide food for needy families twice a week.

Director of Child and Youth Protection, Diocese of Santa Rosa

Julie has a Master's in Counseling from Cal State Fullerton and spent 18 years as an elementary and high school counselor. For the last 7 years, she has worked in the Diocese with victims of clergy sexual abuse and in developing programs to prevent sexual abuse. She is married with 4 children. Her job puts her squarely in the middle of a troubled aspect of the church today, and yet her faith continues to be her support regardless of the daily challenges.

Richard Epp

Richard shared his experiences during his long career in industrial construction and as a safety engineer. While working at Lawrence Livermore Lab his faith helped him deal with on the job issues involving adherence to regulations and yet maintaining the practical concerns of saftey. Decisions were tough and had consequences for his job security, but he felt ethics, truth and honesty were more important and they became the way of life for him. He is an active member of St. Mary Immaculate Parish in Lakeport and chair for RCIA. What started as an interest in Catholic radio programs evolved into becoming a rep for Lighthouse Catholic Media.
